Electricians are licensed at the city and county level in the state of Ohio. The licensing requirements vary slightly across the state. Most electricians will work as an electrical apprentice for at least three years before getting licensed as a journeyman electrician. Electrical contractors are licensed at the state level regardless of contract type.
