In the state of Florida there are two HVAC license types: registered and certified. A registered contractor is licensed to work at the local level. A certified contractor can take work anywhere in the state. You must have workers comp, pass the exam and meet educational and on-the-job requirements in order to qualify for this license. To become a licensed contractor in Florida, applicants must sit for two exams: business and finance and the trade.
